The Forum’s keynote address was delivered by T.R. Reid who spoke on the subject of his most recent film project and how communities can provide excellent health care at lower costs by working together at the local level. Mr. Reid is best known for his work as an internationally acclaimed reporter of global affairs at The Washington Post. He has created and hosted documentary films for National Geographic TV, PBS, and the A&E network. During his time with The Washington Post, Mr. Reid covered four presidential campaigns and traveled to thirty countries. In London, he served as the Bureau Chief for The Washington Post.

Following T.R. Reid’s address was a panel discussion, which explored the issues of current benefit trends, enhanced individual consumerism, worksite wellness and the use of incentives to motivate employees, and value-based benefit design. The panel of experts included: Heather Staples Lavoie, Principal of Middleway Group and Senior Project Executive for Geneia; Dr. Allen Hinkle, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of MVP Health Care; Steven Ryder, President and CEO of True North Networks and The True Nut Company; Dr. Larry Catlett, Medical Director of Cianbro and Founder/CEO of Occupational Medical Consulting; and Maryanne Keating, Program Coordinator of Cheshire County HEAL (Healthy Eating & Active Living).
