Retailers see the value in putting their marketing dollars towards mobile campaigns and making their mobile shopping experience as user-friendly as possible. This means having a responsive website, mobile app, offering online deals and incentives, and getting connected with social media and SMS marketing.

Here are some of the growing trends among mobile consumers to keep in mind:

  • Comparing prices while shopping. Now that most of us take our mobile devices with us wherever we go, we are able to constantly compare prices, double-check between stores, and make sure we’re getting the best bargain we can.
  • Checking products/services reviews. Consumers are not only checking prices, but they are comparing products, services, and companies to find out what and who will best meet their needs.
  • Connecting through social media. Retailers are really taking advantage of social media, not just Facebook and Twitter, but many are now realizing the potential of platforms like Pinterest and Instagram. For example, J. Crew launched its Fall 2013 catalog on Pinterest.
  • Gathering opinions from friends/family. Mobile devices allow us the ultimate connectivity. We can snap a photo, text it to our friend, and ask what they think of the new coat we’re looking to buy. Product feedback from consumers like friends and family plays a role in purchasing decisions.

How often do you make purchases through your mobile device? Do you think this is a trend that will only continue to grow?
